Help continue funding critical type 1 diabetes research at the NIH!

Background

Congress is wrapping up its legislative business for the year. Before they adjourn, we need them to renew the Special Diabetes Program (SDP), which provides $150 million annually for type 1 diabetes research.

The SDP has been critical in advancing research to cure, treat and prevent T1D. The SDP has received strong, bipartisan support from Congress in the past. Earlier this year, 272 Representatives and 72 Senators signed letters to the House and Senate leadership in recognition of the importance of this program. Even though there is strong support, there are many other priorities that Congress must address in the coming weeks. We need to make sure that the SDP renewal is on their must-do list for the remainder of this year.

Please call your legislators and urge them to support a multi-year renewal of the SDP this year as part of the Medicare package so that important clinical trials can continue without interruption.
